ELO
Epoxidized linseed oil (ELO) is a bio-based material derived from flaxseed oil, modified through epoxidation to introduce epoxide groups into its fatty acid chains. This modification enhances ELO’s reactivity and stability, making it useful in various applications, including plasticization and stabilization of PVC and as a component in bio-based epoxy thermosets.
Vegetable oils are renewable, biodegrable, and abundant. The double bonds in the oil itself can be functionalized easily.
